“We are managing the players to remain fresh as we are faced with this back to back matches,” said Middendorp. “Therefore, the supporters must be aware that we make substitutions and changes based on the information we gathered.”
Middendorp referred to Saturday’s substitution of Kearyn Baccus which was not well received by some of the supporters. “It’s important to unite behind all the players,” he added, before unveiling his plans for tonight’s mouthwatering affair against Arrows, “we have worked on recovery from the weekend. The doctors are working on the players that got injured to make sure we field the best team this evening.”
Itumeleng Khune, George Maluleka and Reeve Frosler are undergoing assessment and may not be available for selection tonight.
“As I’ve always said, we have a good quality of players at Chiefs,” continued Middendorp. “Our setup makes all the players ready at any given time. We prepare the players to be on the same level of fitness. We have a few options to introduce should these players not be available this evening. We’ve brought in Njabulo Blom who’s kept his sharpness in the MDC side, and I think he is ready to take his chance
“I don’t like looking much into the opposition camp. We will continue to focus on our preparation. Arrows are a strong side with good players, but we have enough info on them to thwart their plans.
“I’m hoping Dumsani Zuma will return to give us more attacking options. We pulled him out on precaution at the last minute to rest him on Saturday, but he should be ready to play some part tonight. He trained well with the rest of the team and I’m happy with his readiness,” he concluded.
Kick-off is at 19:30 at FNB Stadium. Tickets are available from Computicket and Shoprite/Checkers stores.
