“It has been two seasons without winning any silverware,” Hendrick Ekstein comments about Saturday’s Nedbank Cup clash again Baroka FC. “We don't want to be remembered as players that didn’t bring any trophies to the club.”

The midfielder spoke at the Nedbank Cup press conference held at the PSL headquarters ahead of the quarterfinal match between Kaizer Chiefs and Baroka FC at Port Elizabeth’s Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium.

“I have watched Baroka recently and they continue to play well,” Ekstein comments. “They have some good players and they play good football. It promises to be a difficult match, but I trust that we will win.”

Baroka have earned their status as Chiefs’ hoodoo team. “That they beat us previously is history now. We won 2-1 the last time we faced them,” the midfielder added. That was in January in a league encounter with Ryan Moon and Leonardo Castro scoring the goals.

“The mood in the camp is great,” Ekstein continues, before talking about his own recent form. “I am working hard and promise to work even harder for the team.

“It is not going to be an easy match against Baroka. But we have prepared well. We definitely want to win this trophy, because we want to leave a legacy and create our own history.”

Chiefs will host this round of the Nedbank Cup at Port Elizabeth’s Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium on Saturday, 31 March. Kick-off is at 20:15.

Tickets are sold via TicketPro online www.ticketpro.co.za and at Spar, Edgars, Jet, CNA and Postnet outlets at R60.
