“It’s in the nature of big teams to contest for all competitions,” commented Giovanni Solinas on the two past fixtures (for the Telkom Knockout and CAF Confederation Cup) and the one on Saturday, Absa Premiership, against Golden Arrows.
“We plan to compete in all competitions with the aim of winning them all. The fixtures are squeezed and do come at a fast pace.”
Kaizer Chiefs arrived in Durban on Thursday, straight from Port Elizabeth, where they conquered Zanzibar’s Zimamoto in the first leg, the preliminary round of the CAF Confederation Cup.
“We expect a sharp and fresh Arrows,” said Solinas about Saturday night’s fixture. “Ours is to manage the squad and try to keep the spirit high in the camp. Where necessary we will rotate the squad to cater for the needs of the team.”
Arrows will enter their home turf of Princes Magogo Stadium the fresher of the two sides, as they played their last game on 10 November.
“Arrows are a great side that plays with much enthusiasm,” added the Italian coach. “But they face us at a stage when we are hungry for points.
“We want to stay within touching distance of the log leaders. The match is going to be very tough for both teams but, from what I see in the camp, we are confident to collect maximum points. We have a duty to perform and uphold the Chiefs badge.”
Amakhosi are on a high after midweek with the four-goal fest in the CAF Confederation Cup match. The faithful will be happy with the prospects of emerging victorious after 90 minutes.
The Absa Premiership between Chiefs and Arrows will kick off on Princess Magogo Stadium on Saturday, 1 December, at 18:00.
