Saturday marked the end of the 2017/18 Absa Premiership season.
"We wanted to finish in a respectful position," added Mabedi, "and we also wanted to give supporters something for traveling this entire season with us."
"Knowing Muhsin, I could early in the match see a few of their tactics," noted Mabedi. "I pulled out Ntiya-Ntiya when I noticed they were piling pressure on him because he had a booking already. They wanted to force him to commit another foul, earn a second booking and given matching orders. I was quick to respond to that tactic."
Siphosakhe Ntiya-Ntiya was substituted by Philani Zulu in the 55' minute of the pulsating match.
"I had a job to do. I learnt a lot from Muhsin but I had to do the job for Chiefs," said Mabedi. "Yes we knew winning this match would get us into the CAF Confed Cup . It's true, it was our mission to finish as high on the log as possible."
Bernard Parker (51') and Joseph Molangoane (86') goals earned Amakhosi the three points.
"After all it was a great performance from the team," said Mabedi. "We will take these three points back to Johannesburg as a good close of the season."
"At this stage I wish to congratulate Mamelodi Sundowns for winning the league," concluded Mabedi. "And mostly would like to appreciate the honour of holding the reigns as the interim coach for such a big brand Kaizer Chiefs."
Mabedi guided Chiefs to a loss and two wins in his tenure as interim coach. Amakhosi will close the 2017/18 ABSA Premiership season on a CAF Confederation Cup qualification position, which is third on the log.
Chiefs improved 2016/17 finish with a notch higher by finishing behind Orlando Pirates and Mamelodi Sundowns on 48 points, 12 shy of the champions.
