“We have a very good team lined up to take on Highlands Park. They are successful in how they play. We know their strength, but our focus will be on what we planned for this match.”
As customary, Amakhosi arrived a day before the game, on Friday afternoon, to a warm welcome by the waiting supporters at Durban’s King Shaka International Airport.
“We appreciate the support,” commented Middendorp, before adding, “the mood in the camp is encouraging. I’m happy to see this kind of atmosphere.”
Kaizer Chiefs welcome Highlands Park this Saturday afternoon in what promises to be a mouth-watering Absa Premiership match. The encounter will kick-off at 18:00 at Moses Mabhida Stadium.
Itumeleng Khune, Mulomowandau Mathoho, Lebogang Manyama, Happy Mashiane and Khama Billiat are confirmed out of contention for places for this fixture.
“We have several players out due to a variety of injuries,” confirmed the Chiefs coach. “It is not much of an issue for us, though. We have other players capable and available to do the job for us. It is a matter of selecting the best combination for what we want to achieve.”
Nkosingiphile Ngcobo is included in the travelling squad for the first time this year. The young midfield dynamo has just returned from a successful Under-20 Africa Cup of Nations in Niger, where Amajita won the bronze medal and qualified for the upcoming Under-20 World Cup.
“We have some young players coming up with a chance for selection,” concluded Middendorp, “Emmanuel Letlotlo was in the squad for the last match and now we give Ngcobo an opportunity. The future is good for the club.”
