“We have enough experience in the team to overcome Saturday’s set-back quickly,” says Khotso Moleko ahead of Wednesday’s Absa Premiership fixture against Platinum Stars.

“We have to lift up and continue working hard.”

Chiefs travel to the North West Province to play against unpredictable Platinum Stars, who are placed fifth on the log with 34 points from 20 matches.

“We had a chat about what happened on Saturday,” reflects Moleko on Amakhosi’s Nedbank Cup exit. “We will rectify our mistakes and we will go into Wednesday’s match with an open mind. We always respect our opponents. However, we need the points to keep within touching distance with the current log leaders.”

Despite the loss in the Nedbank Cup, Amakhosi have gone six matches unbeaten in the league and are placed third on the log with 39 points from 21 matches.

No injuries are reported ahead of the Platinum Stars match at Rustenburg’s Royal Bafokeng Stadium on Wednesday evening (kick-off is at 19:30).

Lorenzo Gordinho has served his one match suspension when Chiefs played Orlando Pirates and will be available for selection for the Dikwena clash. Reneilwe Letsholonyane, another absentee in Saturday’s match, will undergo a late fitness test.

Chiefs and Stars have met in 25 league matches since 2003/04 with Amakhosi, winning ten compared to five for Dikwena, while ten matches ended in a stalemate.

Tickets for the match between Platinum Stars and Kaizer Chiefs are sold for R40 at Edcon stores (Edgars, CNA, Legit, Jet Mart, Postnet, Edgars active).
