With their two goals they scored against Benoni Premier United this past Sunday, The Amakhosi have moved to with in a goal of reaching the magical 500 goal mark in league games since the inception of the PSL back in 1996.
The jury though is out as to whose name will go into the history books as the man who scored Chiefs 500th PSL goal, kaizerchiefs.com spoke to a number of experts and got their opinion as to who they see as grabbing the headlines on Sunday by scoring goal number 500 for Chiefs.
Mark Gleeson (Soccer Writer and Television Pundit)
“I envisage Siyabonga Nkosi flying through the midfield to knock home a well taken shot from distance, Nkosi is on form and he has been showing a keen eye in front of goal recently. So the good money should be on Siyabonga Nkosi getting this important goal for the club, he will deserve the credit that comes with gaining this unique milestone for Chiefs”.
Gavin Barker (Editor Amakhosi Magazine)
“To me it looks very likely that Scara Ngobese will get Chiefs 500th PSL goal, Scara has a lot to prove to a lot of people, there are many people who doubt his ability to be a real team contributor.
I feel he went along way towards silencing them with his performance against Benoni Premier United, as he came off the bench to score a goal and create one for Kaizer Motaung Junior.
Scara looks a determined man at the moment and I think the fact that he scored Chiefs 400th PSL goal a few years back will probably be extra motivation for him to get number 500”.
Nkareng Matshe (Journalist for The Star Newspaper)
“Looking at the way Chiefs have played in their last couple of games I would have to be swayed towards saying that Siyabonga Nkosi would be the man to get Chiefs 500th PSL goal and perhaps he will do it this Sunday against Cosmos.
He has been playing well recently and he was unlucky not to have scored against Benoni Premier United, Siya had a well timed free kick rock the Benoni goal post and was really unlucky that it did not find the back of the net. Siyabonga has been finding himself with a lot of good goal scoring opportunities recently and he will make one of them count in his favour as he scores Chiefs 500th PSL goal”.
Robert Marawa (SuperSport Television Presenter)
“I feel that Gerald Sibeko will score Kaizer Chiefs 500th PSL goal simply because he is usually under rated by both fans and media and he usually gets a lot of work done, with out seeking any special attention. So this is his moment and it will be a well deserved honour for him to score this unique milestone goal”.
Doctor Khumalo (Former Kaizer Chiefs player)
“To me it looks as though Kaizer Motaung Junior will score Chiefs 500th PSL goal, Kaizer is in fine knick at the moment and having scored this past weekend against Benoni my gut feeling is that he will score again this coming weekend.
Kaizer has shown during the course of this season that he is a deadly finisher, he demonstrated his scoring abilities on a number of occasions this season, he is playing with a lot of confidence at the moments, so my bet is for Kaizer Junior to score Chiefs 500th PSL goal.
