Amakhosi reserves fought back bravely to draw 2-2 away to Mamelodi Sundowns despite being reduced to 10 men in an exciting DStv Diski Challenge (DDC) match at the Lucas Moripe stadium in Atteridgeville on Sunday.

Thulani Mabaso put Amakhosi into the lead in the 6th minute before Sundowns drew level after half an hour and then went 2-1 up midway through the second period. Things worsened for the young Glamour Boys when Davis “Mdeva’ Morwaswi was sent off in the 69th minute.

However, Vela Khumalo’s men under the guidance of David Mathebula on the day again demonstrated their unwavering resolve to claim a point through Xolani Cossa’s 88th minute equaliser.

With three rounds of the national U-23 league programme left to play, Chiefs lie 4th in the standings, with 48 points from 27 matches.

They face a trip to top=of-the-table Stellenbosch in their next assignment on Sunday, 28 April.

Meanwhile, in SAFA Gauteng Development League (GDL) action at the Kaizer Chiefs Village on Saturday, Amakhosi U-13s comprehensively outclassed Tuks to the tune of 5-1.

The U-15s didn’t fare as well, going down 1-0 to their counterparts from Tshwane.

However, the Chiefs U-19s restored pride with a resounding 5-2 victory over Tuks U-19s to end the day on a happy note.

The U-17 encounter was postponed as a result of players being called up to the national squad.
