Amakhosi emerged triumphant in the Macufe Cup, which was played on Sunday afternoon at the sold out Free State Stadium.

It didn't take long for Kaizer Chiefs to open the score against Bloemfontein Celtic with Dumsani Zuma netting in the fifth minute with a neatly placed lob.

Amakhosi’s joy was brief though with Victor Letsoalo tapping in an easy goal from a cross.

Letsoalo proved to be a handful, silencing the Amakhosi faithful with a header in the 18th minutes to make it, 2-1.

Chiefs defender Siyabonga Ngezana, however, had other ideas, heading in from a corner kick to restore some order in the 30th minute, 2-2.

Bernard Parker helped the Glamour Boys into a 3-2 lead, heading the ball past the Celtic goalkeeper on the brink of half-time.

In the 65th minute, Ryan Moon, who had come on Parker at the start of the second half, looked to score the fourth goal with a beautiful header. However, the goal was adjudged offside by referee Tshidiso Maruping.

In what should have been an awesome moment of the match, Joseph Molangoane’s solo run in the 90th minute was abruptly stopped in the box by a Celtic defender. The referee spotted the infringement and awarded Chiefs a penalty, which was easily slotted home by Moon.

It resulted in a well-deserved 4-2 victory.

It was Amakhosi’s sixth gold medal, equalling Celtic’s trophy count in the Macufe Cup.
