Kaizer Chiefs return to action this evening at the FNB Stadium to face Stellenbosch FC in a Betway Premiership encounter. The match comes just 10 days after Amakhosi agonisingly missed out on qualification for this season’s CAF Confederation Cup knockout stages.
Chiefs currently occupy fourth place on the table with 30 points from 15 matches, while Stellenbosch sit 13th with 16 points from 16 games. The visitors will be eager to ease their relegation concerns, while Amakhosi aim to pile up pressure on the three teams above them.
Coaches Cedric Kaze and Khalil Ben Youssef will be frustrated by the loss of George Matlou to injury, but there are positives. Aden McCarthy returns from suspension in the last outing, while Thabo Cele, Bradley Cross and Fiacre Ntwari are back from injury, though all three start on the bench. Sibongiseni Mthethwa has also resumed training, adding further depth to the squad.
After weeks of anticipation, Chiefs supporters will finally see Ethan Chislett make his debut in Gold & Black. Nkosingiphile Ngcobo and Ashley du Preez also return to the lineup after missing recent matches, strengthening the attacking options.
The goalkeeper is Brandon Petersen
The back four, from left to right, are Paseka Mako, Aden McCarthy, Zitha Kwinika, and Dillan Solomons.
The midfield duo will be Nkosingiphile Ngcobo and Lebohang Maboe
The attacking trio will be Ashley du Preez on the left-wing, Ethan Chislett positioned centrally, Glody Lilepo on the right flank
Flavio da Silva leads the attack.
The referee is Skhumbuzo Gasa. He is assisted by Kgara Mokoena and Simukele Jali. The fourth official is Joseph Makhubo.
Kick-off for this evening’s Betway Premiership match between the Glamour Boys and the Winelands team is at 19:30 at FNB stadium in Nasrec.
The match will be live on SuperSport’s PSL channel 202 on DStv and various SABC radio stations. There will be regular updates on the Club’s X (formerly known as Twitter) account, @kaizerchiefs.
