On the state of the Chiefs squad in their last training session before the Sundowns match:

I see players who really want to play for the team tomorrow. There’s a lot of energy and I hope we can take that energy into the game. If we can take this positivity and all the things we’ve done well in our final preparations, I think we will do wonders.

On the injury status of the squad and approach to the game:

We don’t have Mshini (Nkosingiphile Ngcobo) and Njabulo Ngcobo available because of injuries. We also don’t have those who have been out all along, other than that everyone is available. We will select the squad based on what we see in terms of our game approach and take it from there. But so far so good. My only worry is that we are showing a lot of energy and commitment and tomorrow in the game we don’t show that, obviously it’s a worrying factor. But I think we’re on the right track. The three days we’ve had to prepare this team gave us some extra sessions to prepare them much better for this game. They look good, let’s hope they will take all the good things they’ve done today into the game.

On Sundowns as opposition:

We respect all teams. We’re playing against the champions, who are oozing confidence right now and they’re also dangerous because at the moment they’re playing for nothing, so they will be relaxed. They’re a possession-based team, when you’re playing against a team that’s got nothing to lose and we have a lot to play for it becomes difficult. But we will have to manage the boys, manage the game. We’re playing at home. We know they’re a good team, one of the best on the continent. We will take the game to them with the hope that we will do well. We are always looking forward to playing against teams like them, they test us better and some of the players will learn a lot from the game that’s coming up tomorrow.

On the cup final atmosphere ahead of the game against Sundowns:

There’s no doubt about it. Players don’t need motivation from us as the technical staff. You can see they’re already motivated. I just hope that what I’m seeing today they will apply themselves as they did in our final preparations. And if they can do that I see no disappointment. I think we will get it right.
