Kaizer Chiefs Ladies return to Gauteng Women’s Provincial League action this weekend with two important fixtures as they continue their encouraging start to the 2026 campaign.

The Glamour Girls will first take on Emmarentia Pirates at Delta Park School on Saturday, 6 June, before hosting Wits University at Tsakane Stadium the following day.

The team heads into the double-header in high spirits following an emphatic 7-0 victory over Future Stars Ladies last weekend, a result that extended their unbeaten run to three matches and lifted them to fifth position on the league table, on seven points from four games.

Having shown steady improvement since the start of the season, the Glamour Girls are beginning to find consistency both in performance and results. Vice-captain Matobane Moshugi believes the team’s growing confidence and understanding on the field will be important as they prepare for two challenging encounters.

"We have worked hard over the last few weeks, and it is encouraging to see the progress we are making as a team," she says, adding, “"The results have given us confidence, but more importantly, our performances have improved. We are understanding each other better on the field and finding our rhythm. We know there is still a long way to go, but we are excited about the direction we are heading."

The influential midfielder, who has been a key figure in the centre of the park this season, says the squad is embracing the challenge of playing two matches in as many days.

"It will be a demanding weekend, but these are the types of matches that help us grow,” she states, “We have prepared well, and we will approach both games with courage and belief. Every point is important, and we want to continue building momentum."

For Moshugi, Sunday's clash against Wits University will carry additional significance when she comes up against some of her fellow students from the academic institution.

"As much as it is still early in the season, it is important that we continue playing well and collecting points, Moshugi insists, “Wits have started strongly, and that will be a good test for us, but our focus is on maintaining our standards and continuing our development as a team."

Chiefs will first face an Emmarentia Pirates side that has endured an inconsistent start to the campaign, recording one victory from their opening four matches.

Attention will then quickly shift to Sunday's encounter against Wits, one of the early pacesetters in the league who currently sit joint top of the standings alongside Mamelodi Sundowns, and boast a perfect record from their opening fixtures, winning every match without conceding a goal.

The weekend presents an opportunity for Chiefs Ladies to further measure their progress against some of the league's strongest opposition while continuing their climb up the table.

Saturday's match against Emmarentia Pirates kicks off at 13:00, while Sunday's fixture against Wits University at Tsakane Stadium is scheduled to start at 11:00.
