“It was always going to be difficult to face a good team like Chippa United,” Ramahlwe ‘Rama’ Mphahlele said after scooping his second Man of the Match accolade this season. “Chippa likes to play and we prefer to keep the ball as well. It was set to become an interesting affair.”

“I am happy to be selected as the Man of the Match,” ‘Rama’ added. “It all boils down to teamwork.”
He got his first Man of the Match award after the 1-0 win over Highlands Park, back in February. Mphahlele supplied in that game also the assist for Lorenzo Gordinho to score the winner from.

‘Rama’ has been in outstanding form since joining Chiefs from Mamelodi Sundowns this season. He has started in 23 league matches, scoring once and providing three assists.

Mphahlele was causing havoc on Saturday night in Chippa’s half with his forays upfront. It was no surprise when the right-back was selected as the best player in this entertaining encounter.

“We want to stay at the top with the chasing pack,” commented ‘Rama’. “As you will remember, the last time we lost a competitive game was against Chippa. We have since been working hard on the mental aspect of our game. Our mind is filled with positivity and that helps us cope under pressure.”

“Credit must go to our technical team,” continued the 27-year-old. “They are working hard to help us with a positive mind-set. When we were experiencing a slump, we always knew that we would bounce back. We have a good squad and personnel to fight for honours.”
Chilli Boys coach Dan Malesela mentioned the following about the performance of Chiefs’ right-back: “We knew what to expect of ‘Rama’. We had devised a plan for him. These are the players that make us think. He makes an impact in the game.”
