As the final year examinations dates draw near, the Gauteng Development League is looking at completing this year’s fixtures before the end of October to give the youngsters a chance to focus on the books.
This weekend, Kaizer Chiefs junior teams will play their last round of this year’s Gauteng Development League group stage fixtures when they visit Black Aces at the Greek Sports Club in Ekurhuleni.
With the under-17 team having led the way when they took on Aces on Thursday, where Chiefs beat Amazayoni 0-1, Amakhosi under-13, under-15 and under-19 teams will face their Aces counterparts when the teams lock horns on Saturday at 9:00, 10:30 and 12:00 respectively at the Greek Sports Club.
Chiefs youngsters were last in GDL action on 26 September away to Orlando Pirates in Randburg before taking part in last week’s Engen Knockout Challenge at Marks Park.
In the fixtures that took place in Randburg two weeks ago against Pirates, Amakhosi U13s beat their Soweto rivals 0-3; the U15s won their match 1-2; the U17s lost 2-1 and the U19s sealed the deal with a cool 0-2 victory over the young buccaneers.
Chiefs will be looking at winning this weekend’s matches against Black Aces so they can book their place in the next round of fixtures which will be the semifinals on 16 October. The 2021 GDL finals will take place on 23 October.
