This will be the first time that Mguyo will not be physically present at a Kaizer Chiefs cup final since declaring his love for the Glamour Boys in the early 1970s.
Mguyo injured himself earlier in September when he fell off the roof of his house in an attempt to fix a leak. He is said to have hit the ground head-first and was rushed to hospital where doctors had to operate to remove a blood clot.
The Glamour Boys took time off on Wednesday to visit Mguyo, and help him with the recovery of his memory. This according to PR manager Putco Mafani, this was a fruitful exercise.
"We took a lot of Chiefs merchandise, replica shirts to help Mguyo with his recovery," said Mafani. "He is obviously still battling but he was able to recognise guys like Doctor and he even managed to say the words Kaizer Chiefs. This was remarkable."
"Doctor (Khumalo) has also pledged that the players will win the Coca-Cola Cup for Mguyo and the boys are really fired up. We are going all out to do our best and help him in his recovery," Mafani said.
