Kaizer Chiefs will be targeting a 16^th MTN8 crown, and their first since 2014, when they meet Lamontville Golden Arrows in the quarterfinals at the FNB Stadium on Sunday, 9 August at 18:00. We take a look at Chiefs history against Golden Arrows over the past 26 years:

Amakhosi’s only previous MTN8 clash against Golden Arrows came almost two decades ago on 12 August 2006, at the FNB Stadium in Johannesburg. Chiefs ran out 2-0 winners, with goals from debutant Siyabonga Nkosi and David Obua. Chiefs would go on to win the trophy, which was then known as the SAA Supa8, beating Moroka Swallows in the semifinal and defeating SuperSport United in the final.

Chiefs and Arrows have not met in any cup competition for almost eight years, their last coming in the round of 32 of the Nedbank Cup in February 2018, won 3-0 by Chiefs, with Ryan Moon, Bernard Parker and Joseph Molangoane scoring the goals that day.

Amakhosi emerged victorious in both league meetings between the clubs last season, winning 1-0 home and away, with Flavio Silva netting the winner in the away fixture and Aden McCarthy doing likewise in the home clash.

Overall, this will be the 52^nd meeting between the clubs since their first in the 2000/01 season. Chiefs have the upper hand with 29 wins to Arrows’ 15, while 12 games have ended in draws. Chiefs have scored 74 goals to Arrows' 47.

In all cup games, the teams have come face-to-face six times. Chiefs hold the edge with four wins to Arrows’ two, one of which was on penalties.
