As the Betway Premiership takes a brief hiatus during the FIFA international break, Kaizer Chiefs are set to ignite the excitement of football fans with their participation in the inaugural Home of Legends Cup on 16 September, 2024 in Gqeberha. Scheduled to take place at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium, this one-day tournament organised by the Mandela Bay Development Agency, promises interesting and exciting encounters with fellow PSL participants, Mamelodi Sundowns, Golden Arrows, and Chippa United.

"We're delighted to be part of this initiative," says Jessica Motaung, Kaizer Chiefs' Marketing and Commercial Director, "The Home of Legends Cup exemplifies the country’s passion for the beautiful game and the spirit of unity that defines South African football. It's an excellent opportunity for our team to stay competitive during the break and keep our loyal supporters entertained."

Coach Nasreddine Nabi will only be missing two of his regular players at the tournament, Rushin Dortley and Fiacre Ntwari, who will be away on international duty.

The Home of Legends Cup presents an enticing prospect for football enthusiasts, offering a unique blend of high-stakes competition and entertainment.

Motaung urges fans to fuel the energy and turn out in force, maintaining the impressive attendance numbers seen thus far this season.
"We've been overwhelmed by the incredible support this season. We encourage our fans to continue showing their passion and loyalty. Their presence makes a significant difference to the team's performance," she says in appreciation.

This tournament is more than just a competition – it's a celebration of the country’s football collective power. It also demonstrates the importance of cooperation among clubs to elevate the brand of South African football. Kaizer Chiefs express gratitude to the MBDA for conceptualising and hosting the event.

"We commend the MBDA for their vision and dedication to promoting football excellence," Motaung adds. "Initiatives like the Home of Legends Cup demonstrate the power of collective effort in growing our beautiful game."
