Kaizer Chiefs go into their Reconciliation Day Betway Premiership encounter against TS Galaxy with extra motivation to bounce back from the disappointing result against Polokwane City in their last outing.
After the team’s final training session ahead of the match, Coach Nasreddine Nabi tells www.kaizerchiefs.com that they are determined to eradicate the errors that cost them previously:
On identifying the issues and taking steps to resolve them:
It is true that the last game was a disappointment, mostly in terms of our set-up. We knew we were going to play against a defensive team that plays very deep and that we would have to control the game, but we didn’t move the ball quickly enough to create spaces and make openings by running off the ball, nor were we clinical when we had opportunities to score, especially in the second half. We allowed them to counter-attack even though we knew that was how they played.
However, we believe we have learnt our lesson. The whole week we have been addressing these issues and emphasising the importance of total commitment from the first whistle to the end, and be more clinical in front of goal.
On the opposition, TS Galaxy:
We are playing a very good team that is on a good run of three games without defeat. We are aware that historically we have had a tough time against these opponents. But, we are prepared, both physically and mentally, to go out and get the result we want. We expect them to have the same intention so nobody is taking this game lightly. We have to show our character and confidence, and we want to give our amazing fans, who are always behind us, a victory to celebrate.
On the state of the squad:
We have a few injuries but that is why a top team needs to have a big squad of quality players. We have full faith in the players that are ready to step in and perform at a high level. We believe the collective togetherness within the squad will help the team no matter which players are in the line-up.
