Kaizer Chiefs go into their final Betway Premiership fixture of the 2025/26 season against Chippa United at the Moses Mabhida stadium in Durban on Saturday with the freedom to express themselves without pressure, having secured third place in the standings and with it, CAF Confederation Cup participation next season.

Midfield dynamo, Lebohang Maboe, cut a relaxed figure when www.kaizerchiefs.com caught up with him after training on Thursday.

“Preparations are going very well,” he says, “We are looking forward to our last game with the aim of finishing the season on a high.”

The 31-year-old will complete his first season as a Glamour Boy, a campaign that has seen the marked improvement in results and form propel the Club to a much higher finish in the league than they did last season.

Maboe opines, “I think it has been pretty good to be part of the progress we have made as a team, growing together. I am very proud of the work we have been putting in, and I’m looking to continue that path next season.”

Amakhosi’s final opponents of the season, Chippa United lie in 13th place, safe from relegation, but will also want to end the season with a good showing.

“They are quite a direct team,” Maboe says, before adding, “But, without giving anything away, in our analysis of them we have noticed a few areas we feel we can exploit so we will be ready for them on Saturday.”

As an alternative home venue, Moses Mabhida stadium has proven to be somewhat of a fortress for Chiefs, and Maboe is counting on the incredible support from the fans to close out the season with a day of joy and entertainment.

“Durban is always home for us, and we are looking forward to seeing the Khosi Nation coming out to get behind us and enjoy the final match with us.”

The match kicks off on Saturday, 23 May at 15:00.
