Rampant reserves score five in DDC; GDL going well for juniors

Amakhosi reserves put Polokwane City reserves to the sword at the Peter Mokaba stadium on Sunday, running out 5-1 winners in their DStv Diski Challenge (DDC) encounter.

A brace from Naledi Hlongwane and further goals from Steven Mendes, Neo Bohloko and Mpho Khetang ensured an emphatic away win for the defending champions.

The victory takes them to 46 points from 27 games and a chance to close the four-point gap to third, with three rounds left to play in the national U23 league. They face Stellenbosch at Dobsonville stadium on Sunday, 26 April, kicking off at 10:00.

In the SAFA Gauteng Development League, (GDL), the youth academy teams had a successful round against Highlands Park on Saturday. The U14s won the first match of the day 1-0, followed by a victory for Amakhosi U15s by 2-1. The U17s made it three in a row with a 1-0 win, while the U19s played out a 0-0 draw in the closing fixture. The youngsters will entertain Wits Juniors at the Village this coming Saturday, 25 April, in the next round of fixtures, kicking off at 09:00.
