Kaizer Chiefs reserves opened their 2026/27 DStv Diski Challenge campaign with a memorable 3-2 victory over eternal rivals, Orlando Pirates reserves at Princess Magogo stadium in KwaMashu on Sunday.

Amakhosi roared into a 3-0 halftime lead through a brace from Neo Bohloko, his first an outrageous effort from inside the centre circle, and another from Samkelo Msimango before the break. They withstood something of a second half fightback from the defending champions but held out bravely even after being reduced to 10 men when Emile Dortley received a second yellow card late on.

Things don’t get any easier for Chiefs as the fixture list decrees they will next face Mamelodi Sundowns reserves in their first home match of the season next Sunday.
