Vodacom, in partnership with Kaizer Chiefs, have brought fans closer to their heroes than ever before with the Tsamaya campaign. This groundbreaking initiative gave five loyal Amakhosi supporters the chance to travel overseas with the team during their pre-season tour, creating unforgettable memories and strengthening the bond between the Club and its supporters.
Last Thursday, the winners departed South Africa alongside the Kaizer Chiefs squad, embarking on a journey to Spain where the team is preparing for the upcoming 2026/27 season. The campaign, which ran during the course of the previous season, offered fans a front-row seat to the action, including exclusive access to training sessions, pre-season matches, and one-on-one interactions with the Glamour Boys.
The highlight of the trip was watching Kaizer Chiefs face off against Scottish giants, Rangers FC, in a friendly match. The supporters also attended a second pre-season fixture against Al-Kholood Club from Saudi Arabia, where they cheered from the stands and celebrated every moment with their team. Beyond the matches, fans were able to meet players, take photos, and share in the camaraderie that defines Amakhosi.
For Kagiso Mngomezulu from Witbank in Mpumalanga, the campaign was life-changing. “I entered the Tsamaya competition by purchasing R49 airtime and bundles. I was surprised when I received a call saying I was shortlisted, and then another confirming I would travel with my team. This is my first overseas trip, and I’m truly thankful to Vodacom and Amakhosi for making my dream come true,” he said.
Mngomezulu described Spain as “truly amazing” and expressed excitement about returning home with stories to inspire fellow supporters.
Vodacom ensured the winners were fully equipped for their journey, providing travel essentials, gifts, and stylish Chiefs clothing to help them step into the new season with confidence. The initiative was designed not only to reward loyalty but also to celebrate the passion that drives Amakhosi’s loyal fan base.
Joining Mngomezulu were Zama Ncala from Pietermaritzburg in KwaZulu-Natal, a dedicated branch member (who kept her chairman updated throughout the trip), Mthokozisi Mvelase, and Shane Moagi, originally from Bushbuckridge in Mpumalanga. Together, these supporters formed a unique group of ambassadors for Amakhosi, representing the passion and pride of millions of fans back home. They were accompanied by social media influencer, Kay Mahapa.
The Tsamaya campaign reflects Vodacom’s commitment to enriching lives through meaningful experiences and Kaizer Chiefs’ dedication to their supporters. By taking fans beyond the stadium and into the heart of the team’s journey, the initiative has set a new benchmark for fan engagement in South African football.
The supporters will return home a few days before the team, carrying memories that will last a lifetime. Their stories will inspire fellow fans and reinforce the message that loyalty and passion are always rewarded.
