The much anticipated league opening game between Kaizer Chiefs and SuperSport United on Sunday, 27 August, will be delayed by 15 minutes.

The reason for the delay is that the game will be televised LIVE on SABC Sport. The game, to be played at Loftus Versfeld, has been delayed from 15:00 to a 15:15 kick-off.

Speaking at his weekly briefing to the media on Wednesday, Amakhosi coach, Ernst Middendorp, stressed the importance of coming away with a win on Sunday. He said one of the contributing factors to Chiefs being pipped to the title by Sundowns last season was because of the slow start Chiefs had to the season. Middendorp does not have the best record against SuperSport and is still winless in a league game against Matsasantsa, with Chiefs drawing one and losing one game to United in Middendorp’s first season in charge.

Chiefs players lead by their optimistic captain Cyril Nzama are positive of a victory on Sunday and have good memories of the last time they played at Vodacom Loftus in Tshwane (Pretoria). Which was Chiefs historical victory in the Vodacom Challenge Final on the 27th July against the mighty Red Devils, Manchester United of the English Premier League. The Amakhosi will hope to draw on that victory as a source for physical and psychological inspiration, to overcoming another United at Loftus this time in the form of SuperSport on Sunday.

Tickets for what is sure to be a humdinger of a game are currently available at Computicket and Shoprite-Checkers Stores. Amakhosi fans are encouraged to get their tickets before the game to ensure they will not be disappointed. The game is set to be a cracking one, with the Amakhosi under the leadership of Middendorp having a lot to prove.
