He was deservedly named Absa Premiership Man-of-the-Match for his exploits. He took time to sit down with kaizerchiefs.com after the game.
Kaizerchiefs.com: Valdez congratulations on your last night performance...
Sthembiso Ngcobo: Thanks. I think credit should go to both my teammates and the Technical Team for the job well done. It was important for us to continue winning and put pressure on the teams above us in the league.
Kaizerchiefs.com: You were named Man of the Match for delivering a 5-Star performance. What was the motivation behind your performance?
Sthembiso Ngcobo: I think the whole team played well on the night. We were solid at the back and also the guys in the middle of the park did their job.
It is not about me but the team. I got my first start this year and for me it was a matter of grabbing the opportunity offered to me by the Coach.
It would not have been possible for me to score if it was not for my teammates. It was also good to score in Durban as you know this is home for me.
Kaizerchiefs.com: The goal you scored was 650th goal for Chiefs in the PSL...
Sthembiso Ngcobo: (Cutting in) is this true??? I was not aware. I am grateful to have scored such a historic goal for the Club. Still the most important thing for us was to win the game.
Kaizerchiefs.com: What are you going to do to keep a regular place in the team?
Sthembiso Ngcobo: I am going to continue working hard in improving all aspects of my game. I have received lot of support from everyone at the Club.
The competition is very tough. Kaizer Motaung JR, Stanton Lewis and Knowledge Musona are also able to do the job for the team. It then depends on the Coach who gets the nod on the day.
