A lot has changed at Wits - Tefu

Kaizer Chiefs will take on Bidvest Wits in the Absa Premiership fixture this Saturday, 9th November 2013. Wits are a different outfit from the days when Tefu Mashamaite played for them three seasons ago. ‘Masha’ joined the Amakhosi from the Clever Boys three seasons ago;

“My first game against Wits since joining Chiefs was challenging. Back then, I had to face the guys I played with when I was still at Wits juniors and first team. Since then they have undergone drastic changes in personnel, coaching and the players. The only player left there is Sibusiso Vilakazi.

Vilakazi, is a skilful player, very comfortable on the ball and makes intelligent runs. He is a dangerous player, that is why he is in the National Team,” said the Bochum in Limpopo born defender.

Wits racked up a second successive win by beating University of Pretoria 1-0 at home in midweek;

“We beat Wits 3 – 1 last season at Mbombela Stadium. The game had all elements of an entertaining game. We were organised on the night and Mbombela Stadium was filled to create an atmosphere for a good game.

We are aware that our supporters are unhappy with the midweek result (1-0 defeat at Ajax Cape Town). We are all disappointed and share the same passion for the sport and Kaizer Chiefs. We wake up to play this game that we love. We are frustrated by Tuesday’s result but we can’t point fingersbecause we are a team and we all lost the points. What we have to do now is plan how we can play the next game. We can’t throw plates now. We are a family at Chiefs, we cry and celebrate together.”

The Amakhosi are placed sixth on the Absa Premiership log with 12 points from eight matches;

“We are not looking at the log at the moment. We lost in the previous game but we have to dust off and carry on. We will go into the game as a new ball game. We won’t go to the game as if we are angry or wounded. We are focused on devising the plan to beat Wits. It will be 11 against 11 andstats will not count on the day.”

Gordon Igesund named ‘Masha’ in the Bafana Bafana squad to face Swaziland next week in Mbabane;

“I am happy and humbled to represent my country. I just want to improve and this is a step to achieve more things in my football career.”

The tickets for the game are available at Computicket and Shoprite/Checkers at a cost of R40.

Kickoff is at 20:15
