“The plan was to start right. We spoke about it and I am glad we did just that,” Kaizer Chiefs coach Stuart Baxter says, referring to the drawn Absa Premiership match on the road against Bloemfontein Celtic on Wednesday night.

“Several factors weighed in our performance tonight,” Baxter adds, before talking about the pitch conditions at the Free State stadium. “We knew that the pitch is always a challenge here. It doesn’t allow for a free flowing play.”

“Besides that, we were losing balls in dangerous areas. The game was great for the fans but dangerous for my heart.”

“We are disappointed that we didn’t win the game. It was not a great performance, but a point is a point.”

“At the end of the day Bloemfontein Celtic was fired up,” concludes the Chiefs coach. “Their passionate supporters added to their motivation. They also have in Clinton Larsen a coach returning to prove a point.”

Kaizer Chiefs remains on top of the ABSA Premiership log with 47 points from 19 games. The Amakhosi are 13 points ahead on points from the chasing pack.
