Cyber Team’s first eleven comprised of MKT, KKK, Leon, Jabs, Tshepo, Gordon, Usual One, Neville, Koloba, Ernest and Willy. Our opponents, dressed in all black, started like a house on fire testing our keeper, MKT, with their first touch only to find MKT up to the task of manning the posts.
All Stars were doing much of their talking with their mouths rather than their feet, they were constantly complaining to the referee, challenging his decisions. They were, as a matter of fact, telling the ref what to and not to do. One of All Stars' players bad mouthed the ref hence earning himself a sending off but he flatly refused to leave the pitch, that resulted in an argument that led to the game temporarily stopped. Eventually we all agreed to let him continue to play.
Koloba collected the lose ball from a defensive error by All Stars and blasted the ball past the keeper to give Cyber Team a 1 nil lead. Cyber Team continued to put pressure on their visitors looking to increase their lead. Our defense was an oiled machine, with Leon taking no prisoners along on the right-back, sweeping whatever that came his way. Jabs was playing behind the midfielders with Tshepo doing the sweeping task. Neville was unlucky to find a net only to watch his shot going wide. Ernest, making his debut just like Leon, was assisting Usual One on the right flank. His runs had All Stars in all sorts of troubles. Halftime score was still 1 nil in favor of Cyber Team.
Second half saw All Stars being more physical in their approach, applying more pressure hence getting more shot at goal only to find MKT in fine form. Cyber Team conceded a penalty as a result. MKT was sent the wrong way and All Stars was back in business after converting the spot kick. KKK later left the pitch as a result of suspected injury hence giving Nkulu a run. Ernest wan now moved back to occupy the left-back position and Nkulu moved to the midfield. Usual One was also sacrificed for débutante Pistol, who showed nice touches upon his introduction. Willy, who was rough tackled throughout the game, had a chance to bring Cyber Team back in the lead but fluffed the opportunity.
Both teams continued searching for the winning goal but to no avail, tackles flying in thick and fast. Sanity eventually prevailed when Cyber Team was awarded a penalty. Nkulu confidently stepped up to take the spot kick; he managed to beat the keeper but not the upright as the ball went back into play. KKK is still the man amongst the Cybers when it comes to penalties, he is the only player known to have successfully converted Cyber’s penalty after the likes of Dollar, Jabs, Neville and Nkulu dismally failed…..lol!
All Stars had their chance to wrap up the game when one of their strikers riffled a shot goalwards only for MKT to parry the ball over the posts for a corner. On the other end, Neville was brought down just outside the penalty box on his way to snatching the winner. Gordon’s strike from the free kick sailed over the posts. Our coach of the day, Lesibana, made the final late substitution pulling out Jabs for Bossruu. Nothing much could have been done as the game was destined to a 1 all draw, indeed that was the case as the referee blew the whistle signaling the end of the game.
Me and my Usual self still maintain that the sooner we have a stable and consistent Cyber Team the better, since we are heading for the Corporate League come end of the month. We are gonna be the Corporate League’s whipping boys if this poor games attendance is anything to go by, moreover, only those registered will be the only ones eligible to play, this is a worrying issue which need serious consideration.
