"In keeping with our social responsibility and the spirit of the Telkom Charity Cup we have decided to donate our proceeds to the Carol Shaw Memorial to support them in their good work," said Amakhosi marketing manager Jessica Motaung.
Carol Shaw Memorial is a rehabilitation centre for chemical substance abuse and also caters for those affected by the HIV/AIDS pandemic. The Centre has had a long-standing relationship with Amakhosi with club chairman Kaizer Motaung one of their patrons.
"At the outset, I would like to thank the chairman of Kaizer Chiefs, Mr Kaizer Motaung, and the communications manager, Mr Putco Mafani, for inviting us to receive this donation," said Bongani Khumalo, chairman of the CMSC board.
"We at CSMC value our strategic partnership and association with Kaizer Chiefs. It is indeed mutually beneficial and rewarding. One French dramatist, Pierre Cornelli, once said that the manner of giving is worth more than the gift. We feel honoured and privileged to be here today for this presentation.
"Your support and generosity has made it possible for us to contribute to improving the quality of lives of the poor of the poorest and the most destitute. We love Kaizer Chiefs. We enjoy its special kind of vision. I think I am expressing the sentiments of the CSMC Board, management and the staff if I say that we are humbled yet encouraged by this donation," said Khumalo.
