Kaizer Chiefs have noticed with regret wide and uncontrolled media speculation about alleged listing of some of the club’s key players on the transfer markets and would like to put this subject into proper perspective.
There are three players only that have been transfer listed by the club, namely strikers Kenny Niemack, Phumlani Mkhize and midfielder Patrick Mbuthu, with the likelihood of defender Gary Goldstone concluding his situation early this week.
"Whilst we are fully aware that soccer journalists at this time of the year are desperate to break stories regarding possible player-moves, we regret that this notorious anxiety can sometimes lead to a bad spirit between clubs and certain journalists because of how unsettling and disturbing these reports are to players, as was done by some of today’s (Sunday) papers," said Team Manager, Bobby “Bobsteak” Motaung.
"...all we appeal for is a sense of ethics, consultation and patience as we will be releasing details of who else is going and who is coming. We know that stories with Kaizer Chiefs players sell a lot. People just want to sell papers. If a story does not quote our own sources like our website, please know it’s not authentic and might be missing out on important facts," said Motaung.
Motaung concluded by saying reports about all other players mentioned on the papers on Sunday, including Gerald Sibeko, Rene Richards, Rowen Fernandez and other players were rubbish and intended to destabilize the Amakhosi camp.
In its report on these “transfers” City Press went further to include Sydney Moshikaro, a player who left the club a season ago when transferred to Dynamos.
The Naturena-based glamour side of South African soccer appealed to its players, supporters and fans to disregard all these reports and wait for official statements accredited to the club’s website.
