Luke Baartman is fast becoming a fan favourite among the Khosi Nation for his impressive performances since the start of the 2026/27 season. The 20-year-old forward has featured in all three of Kaizer Chiefs’ Betway Premiership fixtures so far, and notched up his first goal for the Glamour Boys in their second encounter, a 2-0 victory over Sekhukhune United.
“It has been a good start to the season. It’s always great to win early on to bolster the momentum of the tea,” he tells www.kaizerchiefs.com, adding, “I just want to thank the coach and his technical team for giving me the opportunity to start the game and believing in me.”
Baartman opened the scoring against Babina Noko with a perfectly placed first-time finish to complete a sweeping move down the right flank involving Dillan Solomons and new signing Langelihle Phili that reflected the new-found confidence being instilled by coach Fernando Da Cruz.
“Scoring the goal was a very proud moment for me. I am grateful to my teammates for helping me to get my first goal and I wish to score many more,” Baartman reveals.
For Baartman, and all the Amakhosi players, the support of the fans remains a crucial factor in driving the team to produce entertaining performances and positive results.
“Our supporters are amazing, always turning out in big numbers and being there for us. It is comforting to know they have our backs and we try to reciprocate by giving our best every time we step onto the field,” he concludes.
