Stuart Baxter believes that Bafana Bafana can still do well in the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations despite not winning their recent past games against Norway and Algeria.
The former Bafana Bafana Coach said he was behind the national team; “I have no doubt that we can still do well during the tournament with the nation behind the team. There were of course ups and downs with the results ahead of the tournament but this can change on Saturday,”
Bafana Bafana failed to score in both games; “We of course need to take our chances. I felt that the team created a lot of chances that we should have finished in the past couple of games. If one striker takes matters into his own hands and finish the chances the team is creating our fortunes will definitely change."
“The games should have helped Gordon and the Technical Team to look for the signs he is expecting from the team. He has also been trying to work on different tactical aspects and we might see a much more crystallized performance from the team."
Baxter who returned this week from holiday in Europe said that no country has stood out during the preparations; “I have been able to watch Ghana, Ivory Coast, and Nigeria including Cape Verde and no team looks like convincing enough. I think everyone is looking for inspiration at this stage.
He added; “Gordon needs to believe, trust his decisions and his soldiers. He needs to be calm when everyone is not. We are all behind him and the boys,”
The Kaizer Chiefs Head Coach Stuart Baxter has also coached England national U19 as well as Finland national team.
