Gordon Igesund selected no less than six players from Kaizer Chiefs for the international friendlies in Sao Paulo against Brazil on September, 7 and Mozambique at Mbombela Stadium on Tuesday, 11 September 2012.

Kaizerchiefs.com compiled the following report on the six playerspost national duty.

Itumeleng Khune

Itumeleng Khune showed once again why he is regarded as one of the finest young goalkeepers in the continent keeping A Seleção at bay for most of the game. His saves on both halves to deny Brazilians poster boy, Neymar, first a one on one and then a free kick were world class. Having saved a David Luiz initial shot there was nothing the Kaizer Chiefs captain could have done to stop Hulk blistering strike in the 73rd minute to give Brazil a slender 1-0 victory against the brave Bafana Bafana.

The Bafana Bafana no. 1, Itumeleng Khune was rested for the game against the neighbours allowing Moeneeb Josephs to take over the no. 1 jersey.

Siboniso Gaxa

‘Pa’ joined the squad 48 hours before the game against Brazil following an injury to Anele Ngconga and he did not disappoint against the five time World Cup champions. He nearly scored in the second minute forcing a good save from the opposition goalkeeper. ‘Pa’ was nearly a victim of a silly challenge from Marcelo who was lucky to stay on the field having missed ‘Pa’’s knee.

Against neighbours, Mozambique ‘Pa’ was outstanding on the right side of defence and proved why he is highly rated by Bafana Bafana coaches since making his debut in the national team under the tutelage of Stuart Baxter.

Bernard Parker

Bernard Parker impressed against Brazil after replacing an injured Benni McCarthy late in the first half. He was unfortunate to watch his well struck shot going just over the bar in the second half. He also combined well with Lerato Chabangu coming close to scoring as Bafana Bafana looked for an elusive goal.

Currently a top goalscorer in the Premier Soccer League, Parker who was handed a start against Mozambique was on superb form as his brace against Mozambique inspired Bafana Bafana to a 2-0 win against the neighbours, Black Mambas. In the first goal Parker brilliantly combined with his Club teammate, Siphiwe Tshabalala, while the second one followed a clever dummy from another Club teammate Siboniso Gaxa giving the opposition goalkeeper no chance.

Siphiwe Tshabalala

One of Bafana Bafana’s top players in the past couple of years Shabba worked hard against Brazil playing against one of the top right backs in the world, Dani Alves. He was at times guilty of giving away possession of the ball but he remained a threat every time he received the ball and the Brazilians were always on alert.

His superb pass against Mozambique created the first goal for Bernard Parker. Shabba forced a great save from goalkeeper, Logomale late in the second half after latching on a pass from George Maluleka. He was substituted late in the second half following a rather overzealous tackle from the opposition. Stuart Baxter will be hoping that the injury is nothing serious ahead of Chiefs’s weekend league encounter against Black Leopards.

Reneilwe Letsholonyane

Reneilwe Letsholonyane started the game against Brazil on the bench as Gordon Igesund preferred Dean Furman and Kagiso Dickgacoi ahead of the Soweto born midfielder. He was brought in in the 55th minute replacing Lerato Chabangu.

Gordon Igesund handed Letsholonyane a start against Mozambique and he was unfortunate to watch his well taken volley in the 15th minute going just over the bar. Letsholonyane was solid in the middle of the park and combined with fellow midfielder, Dean Furman. Going forward he also combined well with fellow Sowetan, Thulani Serero.

Eric Mathoho

The towering defender was an unused substitute in both games against Brazil and Mozambique but ‘Tower’ as he is affectionately known has plenty to offer to the country.
