Stuart Baxter has said that he will be looking for a response from his charges following a 3-1 drubbing in the hands of Ajax Cape Town at a packed Cape Town Stadium on Wednesday, 1 May 2013.
The Kaizer Chiefs faithful came out in numbers and without a doubt dominating the stands but watched their side losing 3-1 as Ajax eased their relegation woes.
Baxter speaking after the game said; " Ajax played much better technically and also were tactically correct on the evening.
"I would like to congratulate my colleague, Muhsin Ertugral and his team."
"They always looked dangerous every time they had the ball and eventually scored after we had missed a couple of chances."
"We did manage to level matters and that was down to sheer endeavour from the players than quality of play."
Late in the second half Baxter withdrew midfielder, Reneilwe Letsholonyane introducing striker, Sthembiso Ngcobo, a decision that Baxter defended.
"We made a decision on the bench to play with three strikers. We looked at where we are at this stage and we decided to go all out for three points."
"The players though did not adapt and Ajax took the opportunities they created."
Chiefs will have no time to recover as they welcome United FC in the semifinals of Nedbank Cup.
"We are going back to Joburg to lick our wounds. I continue to believe in the group and I know that they will pick themselves up and respond from this defeat," added Baxter.
The Glamour Boys remain on top of the Absa Premiership with 56 points with two games remaining.
