Kaizer Chiefs Head Coach Stuart Baxter expressed his satisfaction as the Glamour Boys recorded their first three points in their first game of the 2013-14 PSL season away to MP Black Aces in Nelspruit on Friday, 2 August 2013.

The defending champions started the game like a house on fire and it was not a surprise as the Club’s top goal scorer last season, Bernard ‘Hond’ Parker, opened the scoring with a well taken goal inside the first 10 minutes of the game.

The Glamour Boys could have immediately increased the score line when Lehlohonolo ‘Wagga-Wagga’ Majoro came close following good work on the right from Knowledge Musona.

Chiefs dominated the game despite Aces coming strongly forcing captain, Itumeleng Khune to pull superb saves towards the end of the first half and at the end of the game.

“I thought we were very aggressive, mobile and played the game at a high tempo inside the first 20 minutes,” said the visibly pleased Stuart Baxter after the game.

“We seemed to slow down a bit after the goal. We continued to push though creating quite a number of chances and there was also a penalty appeal waved away by the referee.

Aces did come back strongly towards the end of first half and forcing our goalkeeper (Itumeleng Khune) to make a superb save.

In the second half they continued to attack but the lads defended the box well. I think for the first game I have to be pleased, it was a decent performance.

Baxter feels that although Musona did well forcing a save and in the second half and looked impressive and threatening everytime he had the ball will need time to adapt.

“He needs to adapt to our way of playing. He is not yet 100% but did a very good job. He can play quite a number of positions for us."

Baxter revealed that they were forced to change the balance of the team due to George Lebese’s absence through suspension.

“Shabba was forced to drop back a bit but did a fantastic job for us. We will rotate the team. It is going to be interesting on who is going to be in the starting lineup this season,” added Baxter.
