Head Coach, Stuart Baxter revealed speaking to kaizerchiefs.com that he was pleased for George Lebese who was among other six players named by Gordon Igesund for the squad to face Poland and Kenya this month.
Lebese kept his place in the starting line-up for Amakhosi against Chippa United after starting the previous two games against Bidvest Wits and Black Leopards respectively.
“It is a nice reward for George Lebese. He has worked really hard in the past couple of weeks and we are all pleased for him,” said Baxter on Lebese who was handed his international debut by the then Coach Pitso Mosimane against Zimbabwe early this year.
“George’s game has been more solid. He has also retained his creativity. His development has improved quite a lot and the call up to the national team will help his development as a player.
Baxter revealed that he had to work on few areas with George; “I worked on his movement with or without the ball. He also does lot of work defensively. He is of course not a finished article at this point in time and will need to continue working hard on his overall game.
Lebese said he was happy to be back in the national team; “I am so happy to be back in the national team picture but I see the call up as a call to put even more effort on my game.
Baxter also congratulated the other call ups; Itumeleng Khune, Eric Mathoho, Reneilwe Letsholonyane, Siphiwe Tshabalala and Bernard Parker.
