Stuart Baxter was pleased to close the year with a win but expressed his disappointment with the overall display of the team following a 2-0 victory against AmaZulu at FNB Stadium on Tuesday evening.

The game was the last for the Amakhosi in 2012 and also the win ensured that Chiefs completes a double over AmaZulu the 2012/13 season. The Durban-based side has not scored a goal against Kaizer Chiefs for more than 7 hours and the last player to score was Lehlohonolo Majoro at the end of 2009/2010 season.

The win saw Amakhosi consolidating their position on top of the Absa Premiership with 35 points after 16 games.

“I am pleased that we closed the year with a win after playing two consecutive draws against Orlando Pirates and University of Pretoria,” said Stuart Baxter speaking to kaizerchiefs.com on Tuesday evening.

“I do feel though that we should have played better. Our passing game was very poor in some instances. I will have to speak to the players during the debrief session.

“I also wish to congratulate my colleague Craig Rosslee for the work he has done since taking over. AmaZulu have improved a lot to the side that we gave six in the opening game of the season. It was a tough game as AmaZulu put a good fight.

Chiefs finished the game with 10 men when Willard Katsande was sent off in the 86th minute; “Willard (Katsande) has been living on the edge. He needed to be careful after getting the first caution. I do feel though the first caution was harsh.

Baxter was pleased with Parker’s goal; “We have been screaming for such quality and one has to say that goal was top class and definitely sealed the game for us. He will probably leave the stadium limping after getting another knock.

Baxter thanked the fans for the support; “We are on top of the log and credit should go to the players and the supporters for the support they have given us since we started against Sundowns back in August.

The supporters showed a lot of confidence in the team and this definitely rubbed off with the players. I would like to wish them all the best during the festive season. We need them back next year all in good health, “added Baxter.
