Bring it on Amidu – Jambo

Jimmy ‘Jambo Jet 747’ Jambo declared to kaizerchiefs.com on Wednesday morning that he and his teammates are not worried about the prospect of facing former teammate Abbas Amidu who spent six months with the Glamour Boys before joining Black Leopards in July this season.

Signed from Mambas in Zimbabwe, Abbas Amidu could not break into the team and played a second fiddle to the likes of Bernard Parker, Sthembiso Ngcobo and Lehlohonolo Majoro and his move to Black Leopards seem to have given him a new lease of life.

Jimmy Jambo spoke highly of his counterpart; “He is a good player and has done well at Black Leopards since joining them in July. He looks rejuvenated and will be out to hurt us this coming weekend. I have not spoken to him this week as he was away with the national team.

“It is important that we prepare thoroughly for this game and not worry ourselves about one player. We are playing against a very good team and they gave us problems at home last season. We cannot take anything for granted. We need to give our best and make sure we take all the points at Soccer City,” said Jambo.

The Zimbabwean born leftback who is in third season with Amakhosi also praised the signing of left back Tsepo Masilela and his country man Matthew Rusike; “Tsepo is a massive signing for the Club. He brings a lot of experience having played for Bafana Bafana and recently in Europe.

“Competition is good for any team that want to win titles. There is quality all round in the team and no player is guaranteed a starting line-up. Personally I am looking forward to learn from him. I watched him a lot playing for the national team and now I will be training week in week out with him. We are all delighted he has joined us. I would like to wish him a speedy recovery.

“Rusike has been with us for a while and is familiar with the surroundings here. He is also aware of the expectations from fans. I know him way back in Zim (Zimbabwe) and I am confident that he is going to add value in this team.

Kick off for the game to be played at Soccer City is at 20:15.
