After the big Soweto Derby that was staged at FNB Stadium on Saturday, the iconic venue hosts another match three days later, as Kaizer Chiefs take on AmaZulu FC in the first fixture of the second half of the Betway Premiership season.

Amakhosi will be looking for a victory in today’s match after losing the Soweto Derby under dubious circumstances on Saturday, while the visitors AmaZulu want to pick up another three points after beating SuperSport United on Saturday night, in Durban.

When Chiefs and AmaZulu met in the first round, Amakhosi were 3-1 victors in the match played at Moses Mabhida in Durban back in September.

Both teams have played 15 matches each and Amakhosi find themselves in fifth position on the log with 21 points. Usuthu are ninth, after collecting 19 points.

Amakhosi will be without Njabulo Blom after the player received his fourth caution of the season on Saturday. He will serve a one match suspension. Another player who is out with a minor injury is George Matlou.

With all the three players that were signed in the January window, Thabo Cele, Glody Lilepo and Tashreeq Morris, starting for the first time for Chiefs, Coach Nasreddine Nabi has made a total of six for the third game in a row.

Njabulo Blom, Samkelo Zwane, Thatayaone Ditlhokwe, Sibongiseni Mthethwa, George Matlou, Ranga Chivaviro will be replaced by Bradley Cross, Reeve Frosler, Yusuf Maart, Thabo Cele, Tashreeq Morris and Glody Lilepo.

Amakhosi will change to a 4-4-2 formation for this match.

Bruce Bvuma retains his position as the starting goalkeeper.

The defence will have Cross on the left, Rushwin Dortley and Inacio Miguel at centre-back, while Frosler is at right back.

In the middle of the park will be Cele with Maart. Winger Pule Mmodi will be on the left flank and Mduduzi Shabalala is on the right wing.

Leading the attack are the new kids on the block, Lilepo and Morris.

Maart will captain the Chiefs side.

The referee for this evening is Siyabulela Qunta. Assistant referees are Happy Nhlanhla and Khamusi Razwimisani. The fourth assistant is Cindy Ndlala.

Amakhosi’s 16th league match of the season against Usuthu will kick off at 19:30 at FNB Stadium in Johannesburg. The game will be live on SuperSport’s PSL Channel 202 on DStv and various SABC radio stations - with regular updates of the match on X (Twitter) @KaizerChiefs.
