Despite a frenetic finish to the match, Kaizer Chiefs and Moroka Swallows were forced to share the spoils in a 1-1 draw in their Premiership match at FNB Stadium on Tuesday.
The Birds took the lead in the 56th minute through Lerato Chabangu, but their advantage lasted just three minutes as Chiefs equalised with a Bernard Parker penalty.
Until that point, the game had seen few serious chances on goal, but a frenzied final 15 minutes ensued as the game opened up.
Chiefs and Swallows traded attacks as each side launched wave after wave of attack only to be thwarted in the final third.
Earlier, Swallows probed as early as the second minute.
An acrobatic Luvhengo Mungomeni effort from the edge of the box from a Dikgang Mabalane cross needed a fully stretched Itumeleng Khune dive to deny the visitors.
In the eighth minute, George Lebese whipped in a ball for Parker, but his off-balance header was well-wide.
A brilliant high cross from Reneilwe Letsholonyane found Siboniso Gaxa on the edge of the area and he made his way into the box before Greg Etafia came off his line to make the save in the 11th minute.
Siyabonga Nomvethe dribbled his way past a defender before unleashing a powerful strike, but straight at Khune just after the 20 minute mark.
Nomvethe made another bustling run into the area in the 26th minute, before the attention of Gould did enough to ensure the Swallows player could not keep his shot down.
On the half-hour mark, Chiefs produced some swift interplay which could have brought the opener. Parker and Knowledge Musona stretched the Swallows defence, before Musona went for the top right corner of goal but was wayward with his attempt.
Nomvethe caused more problems for the Chiefs defence in the 51st when he barged his way into the area but his shot was just inches wide.
Chiefs replied a minute later as a shot fell to substitute Mandla Masango, but from an unmarked position his shot of the game was struck wildly into the stands.
Against the run of play, Swallows took the lead in the 56th minute.
Mabalane burst his way down the right and whipped a ball in for Chabangu, and his first time volley rocketed into the back of the net to make it 1-0 to Swallows.
Chiefs were awarded a penalty in the 59th minute as Musona was fouled in the box.
Parker stepped up to convert from the spot to level the scores at 1-1 on the hour mark.
In the 72nd minute Chabangu drew a top save from Khune with a fiercely struck free-kick from a metre outside the box.
Chabangu again had chance from a free kick three minutes later. On this occasion Chabangu was further out, but produced another top quality effort and Khune reacted well to block the shot.
In the 81st minute, Nomvethe spurned an opportunity to put his side head again. He ran into the box and with just Khune to beat, fired directly at the keeper and the danger was cleared.
In the 84th minute, Musona had a chance of his own to put the side in the lead. He too made his way into the box but fired wide with just the keeper to beat.
