Kaizer Chiefs booked a goalless draw against Asec Mimosas in Ivory Coast’s economic capital Abidjan in the second leg of the CAF Champions League. The result means that Amakhosi have failed to reach the second round of the Champions League, after having lost 1-0 at home last week.
The Glamour Boys put up a courageous fight, creating several chances. Cameldine Abraw and substitute Sula Matovu were among the players that got goal scoring opportunities.
It was an entertaining game, flowing up and down, even if the pace of the game was at times a bit on the slow side due to the enormous heat.
Chiefs coach Steve Komphela rued the lost match at home, commenting: “We came here to score and win the encounter, but it wasn’t to be. We didn’t get a victory here and that’s why we are eliminated from the CAF Champions League.”
