Chiefs Development lift the Discovery Challenge

Kaizer Chiefs Development beat the defending Champions, Soweto Stars to lift the the Discovery Walter Sisulu Soccer Challenge, on Sunday, 29th December 2013.



The Amakhosi, tutored by Coach Donald Khuse scored the only goal of the match via an own goal resulting from a deflected Macheke's header.



Chiefs Development lifted the trophy as named after the struggle icon Walter Sisulu (1944 - 2003). Chiefs took home R70000.00 prize cheque.



Midfielder Pule Ekstein was named the Player of the Tournament. "I am happy with my performance. I am working hard to get to the first Team one day. We played like a Team and that's good for the Club going forward," commented Ekstein.



Coach Khuse summed up the proceedings,"I am happy with the results. We wanted the youngsters to play under pressure. We knew this was a knockout and played in front of a fully packed Nike Centre. This was a good experience for the Team and shows progress in the Development plans of the Club."



The game was played at Nike Centre, Pimville in Soweto from the 1st December to 29th December 2013. 56 Teams took part in the seniors category.
