The much-awaited friendly game between Orange Farm Invitation side against Kaizer Chiefs FC development side will take place at Nike Chris Hani Sports Complex on Saturday.

All four teams to play in the scheduled friendly matches consist of under 14 and 20 years boys and girls who got selected after the championship games which, involved local school and association teams which were held at the same venue on the 31 August and 2 September 2002.

The selection of the squads was done by the ex-soccer players who include the likes of Moses Moloi, formerly Free State Stars and Orlando Pirates, Lebo Morula, the former Jomo Cosmos, including the legendary Chiefs player Patrick “Ace” Ntsoelengoe.

“The presence of the reputable soccer stars in the area will easily rub off to the young stars, who most of them aspire to be at their status level,” explained Jabu Tamme of the Nike Cares Trust and co-ordinator this development programme.

The final 16 players will remain in each team after whittling from a pool of 32 players.

This is to ensure that players are well assessed before their inclusion in the final squad.

There are plans to play friendlies against other recognized development teams such as the Linda Buthelezi led Ama-hopefuls and Wits University’s development side for the October and November months culminating to an even big one-day Orange Farm Soccer Challenge in December. Dates for next coming games will be confirmed in due course.

All squads are led by the coaches from both school and association teams which have won the championships assisted by those who did the selections.

The partners of this sports development initiative include Nike Cares Trust, Joburg Metro Council, Department of Sports, Orange Farm Sports Council, Orange Farm School Sports Association and Orange Farm Football Association also supported by Chiefs.
