Kaizer Chiefs Juniors will participate in the annual Metropolitan Premier Cup to be held in Cape Town from 20-25 April 2011 was confirmed by the Football Manager, Bobby Motaung.

The Club is in a process to curb age cheating - we took a hard stance last year by withdrawing all development teams.

“There has been invites for us to take part in many tournaments, so after discussing the matter we thought it was important for us to keep in touch with what is happening at development level & send a Team to participate the in the Metropolitan Cup.”

“The same team going to Cape Town has also been registered to participate in the SAFA Johannesburg League. Coaches, Ryder Mofokeng and Arthur Zwane will guide the team,” said Motaung.

Motaung further revealed to kaizerchiefs.com on Tuesday afternoon that the work of the Commission is still underway.

“The Commission is still busy investigating as to how the players managed to falsify their ages and further verify as to how many years they have reduced in age. That process has not been abandoned.”

Meanwhile, Managing Director Bheki Shongwe addressed the youngsters at the Club HQ, The Village on Tuesday morning wishing them all the best in Cape Town.

The Club had organized a special lunch with the 1st team players to give the Development team a send off to the tournament.

“I wish I was young as you are.

Growing up I never had an opportunity to be dressed so smart,” he jokingly told the team led by their captain, Tshepo Tolo.

“Remember you are carrying the hopes and aspirations of your parents including Kaizer Chiefs. Your role is to protect the brand and do us proud. The platform has been created for you to have fun. Go out there, enjoy yourself, play, be young and all the best,” said Shongwe.

Former Development players and senior team goalkeepers, Thela Ngobeni and Itumeleng Khune also joined the Managing Director in wishing the team all the best in Cape Town.

Chiefs who have been grouped with Baltic Rangers (2010 finalists), Old Mutual Academy and Robinvale Spurs will be hoping to better the 2010 performance.
