Naturena, 30 September 2011: Jimmy Tau has dismissed reports that he has resigned as team captain. This followed reports from the media that the player had “written an emotional email resigning as a captain of the team”.

The report further stated that Head Coach, Vladimir Vermezovic had a go at Tau questioning his ‘leadership skills’ following a loss against Golden Arrows at Peter Mokaba Stadium.

“It has always been an honour for me to lead this team from the moment I was handed the responsibility back in July 2008. It was one of the proudest moments in my career. I have never expressed an intention to step down as a captain.

I am honoured to be leading a special group of players and of course one of the biggest teams in the continent,” said Tau speaking to kaizerchiefs.com on Friday afternoon.

“I read and hear in the media today that I wrote an email to the Management and this is not true. I also have to clarify that there are no issues between myself and the Head Coach (Vladimir Vermezovic).

“It is normal in football that the Coach criticises the players whenever he feels that something is not right. I am sure I speak for the players that together with the Technical team and everyone associated with the Club remain united towards our goal to win the Absa Premiership this season,” said Jimmy Tau known affectionately as the ‘Lion of Teranga’.

Football Manager, Bobby Motaung expressed his disgust following the reports on Friday morning.

“This is another ploy to destabilize the camp. Jimmy Tau remains the captain of the team and he has not resigned.

“Kaizer Chiefs is led by credible leaders including the Executive Chairman, Kaizer Motaung. There are processes and protocols in this team. Jimmy never appointed himself as a captain and the same process that unfolded when he was elected as a captain will happen when he steps down.

“We are not going to allow the media to interfere with what we are doing at Naturena
