The Glamour Boys returned to training on Monday in preparation for a potential titanic MTN8 semifinal encounter against archrivals, Orlando Pirates at FNB Stadium on Saturday, 24 August 2013.

The Naturena based side has won the competition a record of 14 times since it was established back in 1972 and they were the inaugural winners of MTN8 back in 2008.

On that historic night, the current Captain, Itumeleng Khune emerged as a hero as he inspired the Glamour Boys to a memorable victory at Kings Park Stadium. Amakhosi won the trophy 4-3 on penalties over Mamelodi Sundowns. The winning penalty from the foot of Reneilwe Letshonyane was equally important giving the Glamour Boys a well-deserved victory.

Both Itumeleng Khune and Reneilwe Letsholonyane including on fire Siphiwe Tshabalala, who also scored a penalty that night in Durban MTN 8 in 2008, joined by their Bafana teammates, Bernard Parker, Tsepo Masilela and Eric Mathoho were back in training in preparation for the upcoming encounter against Orlando Pirates.

The Technical Team should be delighted that all the players who were doing national duty last week came back with a clean bill of health and will be available for selection this coming weekend.

Orlando Pirates got the better of the Glamour Boys in the same competition back in 2010 winning 2-1 on aggregate following two breathtaking clashes at FNB Stadium.

In 2011 Orlando Pirates beat Kaizer Chiefs again in the final of the competition with a solitary goal that was scored in the extra time.

Under the tutelage of Stuart Baxter, The Glamour Boys of Phefeni were ousted from the same tournament by Mamelodi Sundowns in the first round of the competition last season will be hoping to do much better in this year’s edition.

Kickoff for the game against Orlando Pirates is at 15h00.
