Durban's King Shaka Airport resembled a soccer stadium with the Amakhosi faithful on Wednesday afternoon.
The supporters, clad in their Gold and Black colours welcomed their favourite Team at the arrival section of the airport.
If the welcoming is anything to go by, Durban should brace itself for a Gold and Black festive period in the next few days. KwaZulu Natal Supporters Branches Coordinator Norman Mkhize expressed delight at the scenes as they unfolded,
"Thank you once more for giving us an opportunity to welcome our dearest Team. No other Team does this with their supporters. Look at the excitement in the faces of the crowd here. This is amazing," said Mkhize.
"The supporters enjoyed as they got more than what they bargained for. The Coach, Captain and the players were very warm and cooperated patiently with their enthusiastic supporters. Thank you once more. We will be at the Activations and at both games. Durban will be painted Gold and Black in and outside the stadium from today," commented a Mkhize flanked by fellow supporters.
The Cathedral, Inanda, Tongaat, Ntuzuma, Greater Folweni and Elandskop Supporters Branches waved their flags with cheering crowd from the upper levels of the airport. The supporters were addressed by Team Captain Itumeleng Khune who thanked everybody for their undying love for Chiefs.
It was an emotional moments when Coach Baxter and Captain Khune ceremonially greeted the Cathedral Branch members. This was in honour of Cathedral Branch member, the late Mr Langa Ngcece (RIP) who was the victim from a Minibus accident involving the supporters travelling from Durban to the Soweto Derby in the early hours of Saturday, 26 October 2013.
