Kaizer Chiefs travelled to Peter Mokaba Stadium to take on log leaders, SuperSport United in front of an enthusiastic crowd at Peter Mokaba on Wednesday evening.

A moment of silent was given to former Bafana Bafana Coach, Styles Phumo who succumbed to cancer on Sunday.

With formalities done it was back on the main business of the day as the Glamour Boys hoped to close the four point gap on log leaders, SuperSport United.

They did make their intentions clear in the 24th minute when Bernard Parker forced a save out of young goalkeeper, Ronwen Williams who used his right leg to deny Chiefs no. 25. Lehlohonolo Majoro’s follow up overhead kick went just wide.

SuperSport United though was not going to let Kaizer Chiefs to have a walk in the park as Moffat Mdluli opened the scoring for the hosts beating Arthur Bartman from close range after midfielder, Reneilwe Letsholonyane had lost the ball on the edge of the 18 area box.

Bartman was called into action again in the 43rd minute when Tebugo Langerman was given a space to shoot inside the 18 area box, 1-0 at half time.

Vladimir Vermezovic replaced Reneilwe Letsholonyane at the beginning of second half introducing young, Lucky Baloyi as the Glamour Boys looked at pulling a goal back.

Chiefs continued to probe and striker, Bernard Parker should have done better in the 69th minute when he failed to connect Siphiwe Tshablala’s sublime cross.

Bernard Parker was in the thick of things again in the 75th minute forcing a stupendous save out of goalkeeper, Ronwen Williams who has kept former Chiefs stopper, Rowen Fernandez on the bench this season.

It was SuperSport United though who sealed the win for the hosts in the 79th minute when Tebugo Langerman scored from close range.

The goal followed an attempt from Kermit Erasmus who had hit the right upright.

Substitute George Lebese forced two more saves from Man of the Match, Ronwen Williams following a cross from an industrious Tshabalala.

The night belonged to SuperSport United as they extended their unbeaten run in the league and extended their lead on the top of the Absa Premiership.

The Glamour Boys will be looking at redeeming themselves on Sunday, 04 December 2011 when they visit SuperSport United neighbours Sundowns at Loftus Versfeld.
