Themba Mokoena was on cloud nine on Saturday evening not only because his favourite team sent Free State Stars packing (2-0) but because he had an opportunity to meet and greet members of the first team playing squad, Technical Team and members of the Management.

The 17 year old soccer fanatic is suffering from a rare cancer, osteosarcoma and approached Reach for Dream as he desperately wanted to meet his favourite players.

“I am very happy today having met our captain, Itumeleng Khune, Jimmy Tau, Lucky Baloyi and other guys. It has always been my dream to meet them. I had an opportunity to come here and watch the team and I am very happy we also won the game after trailing early. I love Kaizer Chiefs with all my heart,” said the visibly delighted Mokeona speaking to kaizerchiefs.com after the end of the game.

“I started not feeling well during 2010 World Cup. My condition detoriated but I still have hope that I will be okay in the near future. I got a lot of encouragement from everyone in the team this evening and I am grateful for the opportunity,” added Mokoena.

Lungile Ntombela from Reach for a Dream who had accompanied Themba expressed her gratitude to the Club for allowing Themba to spend time with the team.

“It was an awesome experience for Themba. I am grateful to Kaizer Chiefs for always working with us in making the dreams of the children come true. He will never forget this day – just everyone he met was awesome,”

Brand Manager, Dara Carroll said; “We receive lot of requests from lot of people who want to meet the players and after reading the amazing story of Themba - we all agreed that he should come over this evening. We also have a long standing relationship with Reach for a Dream; we cherish taking part in initiatives such as these.

I would like to wish him on behalf of the Club a speedy recovery - even though this will not immediately heal him, it will go a long way in putting a smile on his face,” added Dara Carroll.
