Chiefs make two enforced changes against Chippa in Nedbank Cup

Kaizer Chiefs take on Chippa United this evening in the round of 16 of this year’s Nedbank up, one day after parting ways with defender Thatayone Ditlhokwe, who has been sold to Al-Ittihad FC based in Tripoli, capital city of Lybia.

The Botswana international said his goodbyes to his teammates during yesterday’s prematch training session and will fly out this weekend.

Another absentee this evening - as Chiefs try to get closer to winning to winning their 14th Nedbank Cup trophy - will be midfielder and captain, Yusuf Maart, who picked up his fourth caution in last Friday’s Betway Premiership match against Stellenbosch in Cape Town.

Following Ditlhokwe’s departure and Maart’s suspension, coach Nasreddine Nabi is forced to make two changes to the team that started the previous match against the Winelands team.

In the starting XI, Ditlhokwe is replaced by Happy Mashiane and Samkelo Zwane will take Maart’s place.

Chiefs will go for a 4-3-1-2 formation for this evening’s match.

Bruce Bvuma is the goalkeeper.

The defence will see Mashiane return to the left-back position; Rushwin Dortley and Inacio Miguel are central defenders, and Reeve Frosler is on the right.

Thabo Cele is the holding midfielder.

On the left, Chiefs will have Pule Mmodi, and Zwane will run on the right of the midfield.

Gaston Sirino will operate just behind the strikers.

Tashreeq Morris teams up with Glody Lilepo, who scored Amakhosi’s winner against Stellies in the last match, to lead the attack.

With Maart missing in action, Miguel will wear the armband for the Glamour Boys.

This evening’s referee is Akhona Makalima. He will be assisted by Sipho Mahlangu and Thabang Matlhong. The fourth official is Moreki Lekwape.

Amakhosi’s round of 16 Nedbank Cup match against the Chilli Boys will commence at 18:00 at FNB Stadium in the Johannesburg. The game will be live on SuperSport’s PSL Channel 202 on DStv and various SABC radio stations - with regular updates of the match on X (Twitter) @KaizerChiefs.
