According to media reports, goalkeeper Rowen Fernandez, currently on holiday with his family, midfielders Scara Ngobese and Arthur Zwane had “failed to report for duty” after being included in the PSL XI squad to play Bafana Bafana in a friendly on Thursday.
However, Bobby insisted that the players were not at fault as they were never informed of these call-ups. Bobby said the Amakhosi offices closed for the festive season break on December 22 and that by that time the club had not received any requests from the either the PSL or Safa.
"We never heard any official requests from Safa or the PSL hence we never informed the players to alter their holiday plans," said Bobby Motaung. "The letters might have reached the office on Friday or even Monday but there was no one there as we had officially closed for the December break."
Bobby also pointed out that other players like Gert Schalkwyk, Gerald Sibeko and Siphiwe Mkhoza plus team doctor Phil Maepa were informed on time by the organisers hence they are currently with the team.
The PSL XI will play Bafana in the first of their two-match programme at Joburg Stadium on Thursday at 18:00. The second match will be played in Durban on January 4.
